Catering in northern Israel: what to check before booking

The menu is only part of the order. Compare service, transport, equipment and schedules for your event.

Start with the event details

Give the supplier the town and address, event date, guest count and the type of service you want. A garden gathering, a hall with a kitchen and an event in an open space require different arrangements. Explain vehicle access, steps and the distance from the unloading point to where food will be served. Accurate details at the start let you obtain a quote for your event, rather than a general price per person.

The menu needs to suit the guests

List preferences and dietary requests before choosing dishes. Where there is an allergy, ask for an explicit answer about ingredients and potential contact with allergens during preparation and serving. Do not infer allergy suitability from a dish's name or a description such as vegan. If kosher certification is required, check the certificate and whether it meets the event's needs directly with the supplier.

What is included in the price?

Compare quotes against the same list of items: transport, staff, tableware, serving tables, drinks, setup and clearing away. Ask how many service hours are included and who supplies additional equipment. Check whether the price includes all relevant charges and what happens if the guest count changes. An apparently cheaper quote may cover a more limited service, so comparing the price per person is not enough.

Agree on a schedule and contact person

Write down when the team arrives, when serving starts and when clearing away finishes. Decide who will receive the supplier on site and who can make decisions if plans change. For an outdoor event, agree in advance on an alternative for unsuitable weather. Ask the supplier how food is kept during transport and serving, and what conditions they require at the venue to deliver the service.

Confirm everything in writing, including changes

Keep a final quote detailing the menu, quantities or number of diners, payments and amendment and cancellation terms. If you tasted a dish and requested an adjustment, make sure it appears in the order. Written coordination need not be cumbersome: the aim is for both sides to understand the same service. Shortly before the event, review the summary together and check that no details still rely on assumptions.
